INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Economic growth, social advancement and action against the climate emergency depend largely on investment in infrastructure, sustainable industrial development and technological progress. Today, about 1 billion people live more than 2 km from a roadway, 940 million live without electricity, and 663 million lack improved drinking water sources.
ACCIONA participates in the entire infrastructure construction value chain, from the identification of opportunity, design and execution, to the operation and maintenance of the constructed works, using the most advanced and innovative techniques.
Performance quality and safety are two of the criteria that maximize the company's value proposal in the development of large infrastructure projects and that differentiate it from other competitors in the construction field.
In December 2016, through its Airport Services activities, ACCIONA began to operate in Chilean airports, providing passenger handling services and operations for long-haul flights between South America and Europe.
Currently, ACCIONA operates in a total of 14 airports throughout Chile, including Santiago de Chile, Calama, Antofagasta, Copiapó, La Serena, Concepción, Temuco, Puerto Montt, Iquique, Punta Arenas, Valdivia, Arica, Balmaceda and Puerto Natales.
Additionally, it takes part in the various handling services, such as passenger services, loading operations and sheets, ramps, ticket sales, footbridges, de-icing and services for persons with reduced mobility.
Chile is a strategic market for the handling business, with a market share of over 60 %.
- At the Santiago de Chile Airport alone, an average of 950 tonnes of cargo is moved daily.
- An average of 95 aircraft towing operations are carried out with its fleet of 14 towbarless tractors.
- In Chile, ACCIONA has 42 ground power units and 21 electric baggage and load platform tractors with the capacity for load units of up to 30 tonnes.
Technology and innovation
In line with its commitment to technology and innovation, ACCIONA has implemented the INFORM technology platform in its Chilean handling operations;
this software helps manage resources and operational flight information more efficiently, improving the quality of the service offered to the customer. In addition, it entails a significant improvement for employees, as it balances the work load. ACCIONA also uses this system in Spain and Germany.
