Job Description

Acciona Agua is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Project Engineer (Electrical) to join our team on the Eyre Peninsula Desalination Project. This role is responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of advanced electrical systems and components.

The successful candidate will combine deep technical knowledge with leadership and project management skills to drive successful project outcomes. The Senior Electrical Engineer will also provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and oversee complex engineering challenges.

1. Manage Tenders and Bids

  • Develop presentations as part of client interactive workshops.

  • Formulate strategic questions that expose valuable information in formulating a bid.

  • Incorporate the client’s objectives with the tender offer.

  • Evaluate risks and opportunities and incorporate them into the overall price estimate.

  • Develop a set-up and delivery plan for the project, incorporating staffing and labour histograms and pricing.

  •  Develop alternative solutions and evaluate using value engineering.

2. Develop Project Methods

  • Ensure the development of less experienced engineers is actively undertaken.

  • Seek and engage with new innovative contractors.

  • Undertake objective, critical analysis to draw accurate conclusions that recognise and manage contextual issues.

  • Work through issues, weigh up alternatives and identify the most effective solutions in collaboration with others.

  • Take account of the wider business context when considering options to resolve issues.

  • Explore a range of possibilities and creative alternatives to contribute to system, process, and business improvements.

  • Implement systems and processes that are underpinned by high-quality research and analysis.

  • Participate in industry knowledge transfer events.

3. Manage Project Schedules

  • Manage resources, risks, and scope along the critical path to ensure delays do not affect the Project.

  • Allocate and manage time (schedule) risk and contingencies appropriately to the project.

  • Analyses the logistics of procuring and delivering site items and managing constraints.

  • Manage critical path items and adjust resources or sequencing to mitigate delays or gain float.

  • Set key milestones to align the team to a common goal.

  • Prepare and review project scope and business cases for projects with multiple interdependencies.

  • Access key subject-matter experts’ knowledge to inform project plans and directions.

  • Design and implement effective stakeholder engagement and communications strategies for all project stages.

  • Monitor project completion and implement effective and rigorous project evaluation methodologies to inform future planning.

4. Manage Construction Engineering Activities

  • Ensure construction method statements provided as part of a technical submission are implemented.

  • Engage relevant teams on methods to construct an element of work.

  • Ensure all temporary works and responsibilities for designing, checking, inspecting, and maintaining are followed.

  • Document any re-planning and ensure everyone involved is aware of the current plan.

  • Design and develop systems to establish and measure accountabilities.

  • Model the highest standards of financial probity, demonstrating respect for public monies and other resources.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 

  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable. 

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, control systems, and automation. 

  • Strong understanding of relevant electrical standards and codes (NEC, IEEE, IEC, etc.)
