Job Description
Reporting to the MEP Lead, the MEP Coordinator is responsible for all on-site Mechanical, Fire Protection and Electrical construction activities on a daily basis. This role will include both project management and on-site supervision duties. The successful candidate will ensure construction occurs safely, manage subcontractors to ensure on-time and on-budget completion, verify construction compliance with design requirements, and coordination with other groups on site.
Project Management
- Working with the Station Construction team, manage subcontractor MEP budgets, schedules, and changes.
- Interface with the design team, by managing subcontractor RFIs and shop drawing approval process.
- Take the lead on productivity issues and monitor work performance and efficiency of subcontractors to ensure project plans and schedule are followed and project is executed effectively and within budget.
- Participate in the preparation and execution of MEP pre-commissioning activities, including testing, inspection, and verification of installed systems.
- Ensure that all MEP systems are tested and functional in compliance with project requirements before commissioning and handover.
Site Supervision
- Supervise subcontractors to ensure its work is completed safely.
- Perform inspections, track installed quantities, and ensure work is performed as per specifications and drawings.
- Complete site inspections to ensure project materials and workmanship meets the project Quality Standards.
- Coordinate site work with other disciplines and the Site Superintendents.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Educational and experience requirements include a four-year construction or engineering related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
- 5 years of experience in construction, including experience with both Mechanical and Electrical disciplines.
- Experience on transit or rail projects.
- Ability to evaluate trade performance is essential.
- Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings and other documents.
- Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate with others a must.
The salary for this role is typically between $75K and $105K depending on qualifications, education and work experience.
