Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Jr. CAD Technician to join our team on the Surrey Langley Stations Project. This role is ideal for someone with 1–3 years of experience in CAD drafting or survey support—or a new graduate with a strong technical background, excellent attention to detail, and a passion for learning. You will assist in processing survey data, producing accurate CAD drawings, and supporting survey and engineering teams in delivering high-quality project documentation.

This is a great opportunity to be part of a large-scale infrastructure project, gain exposure to advanced survey technologies, and grow your career in a collaborative, professional environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process survey data collected from total stations, GNSS receivers, and laser scanners using industry-standard tools.
  • Create and update CAD drawings such as topographic surveys, as-built plans, and construction layouts using AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar software.
  • Support the integration of point cloud data into CAD workflows and assist in developing 3D models for project planning and visualization.
  • Collaborate with field surveyors and engineers to interpret design requirements and translate them into accurate CAD deliverables.
  • Maintain organized records of survey data, field reports, and drawing files in accordance with project protocols.
  • Participate in quality control processes to ensure deliverables meet accuracy standards and project specifications.
  • Assist in improving CAD standards, workflows, and documentation practices.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and provide support to survey teams as needed.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a CAD survey technician role, OR a recent graduate with relevant co-op, internship, or academic project experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar CAD software.
  • Familiarity with survey data processing tools (e.g., Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center or similar) is an asset.
  • Exposure to infrastructure, tunneling, or construction projects is an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of survey principles, coordinate systems, and geodetic concepts.
  • Ability to interpret and integrate field survey data into CAD environments.
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling, point cloud processing, and terrain modeling is a plus.
  • Interest in BIM workflows and modern digital construction practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Organized and capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow in a supportive team environment.

Compensation for this role will be based on work experience, education, and may include an annual salary between $65k and $85k, benefits, vacation time, and RSP matching contribution.
