Throughout the "Apostle's Celebrations" the baroque façade doubled as a giant screen on which 16 projectors flashed a spectacular virtual tour of the Cathedral's interior.

From July 30th onwards, visitors used a touch screen on an interactive multimedia display, called La Máquina del Tiempo (The Time Machine), to choose the sequences they wanted to see projected on the Cathedral every night.

The Santiago Consortium chose General de Producciones y Diseño (GPD), an ACCIONA company, to mark the 8th Centenary celebrations of the consecration of the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, Spain) with a cutting-edge display combining light, sound, music, fireworks and an array of special effects, using the very latest technologies to achieve a 4D effect thanks to the use of mapping and warping.

The commemorative acts got under way on July 24th with Los Fuegos del Apóstol (The Apostle's Fire), a half-hour fireworks display which brought out the full beauty and strength of the Cathedral and its façade. Until July 30th, the list of attractions included La Máquina del Tiempo: a touch screen gave spectators the chance to choose the sequences they wanted to see, giving rise to a different display every evening and enabling younger visitors to joint in the 8th Centenary events.
