The WATER MINING project aims to demonstrate innovative solutions that allow the transformation of conventional water treatment systems into resource recovery processes, in clear alignment with the principles of Circular Economy.
The project will have demonstration sites in Cyprus, Spain, Portugal and the Netherlands in which innovative and efficient treatment systems will be tested that aim not only to obtain high-quality water from seawater and wastewater, but also to extract nutrients, minerals, and energy from these waters.
With ACCIONA, 37 companies and research centers from 12 European countries participate in the consortium. The project budget amounts to 17 million euros and is funded by the European Commission through the Horizon 2020 Programme (GA869474).
