Construction of double track for Bane NOR on the section from Sandbukta in the north to Såstad in the south.

The design and construction are being carried out by MossIA ANS, a joint venture between Implenia Norge and ACCIONA. The project involves building approximately 9 km of new double track along a new route between Sandbukta and Såstad, 5.5 km of which will be underground, passing through Moss municipality.

The main work includes two tunnels, 2.3 km and 2.7 km in length, and two loose material culverts, located about 60 km south of Oslo.

This project is part of Bane NOR’s InterCity development, which aims to provide better train services between cities in Eastern Norway, offering faster journeys and more departures for 1.5 million residents.

GOAL OF THE PROJECT

The main objective of the project is to increase the capacity and reduce travel times on the Østfold line. The project will increase the train frequency to four trains per hour between Moss and Oslo. Together with the Follobanen project, it will cut the travel time between Moss and Oslo by 20 minutes, reducing it to 30 minutes.
