Sustainable mobility
ACCIONA works forward to find low-carbon solutions that promote sustainable mobility.
Sustainable Transportation
ACCIONA works to find low‐carbon solutions that promote sustainable mobility. Our approach in this field focuses on two lines of action: the production of biofuels and the search for alternatives to road transport, the motorways of the sea.
Over 2010 the ACCIONA plants have produced 142,783 metric tons of biodiesel and 17,900 metric tons of bioethanol, which have prevented the emission of 427,567 metric tons of CO2.
As for motorways of the sea, ACCIONA currently has three routes: Alicante ‐Cadiz‐Canary Islands; Barcelona ‐ Cadiz ‐ Canary Islands, and Agadir ‐ Barcelona. Collectively, they avoided 48,551 metric tons of CO2 in 2010.
Electric Mobility
ACCIONA Energy, a global leader in clean energy, along with ACCIONA Energy Efficiency, has become a leading charging station infrastructure vendor and supplier of renewable energy for electric vehicles. It has focused its activity in three main areas:
- Collaboration agreements with world‐class electric vehicle manufacturers. Agreements signed with Renault and Nissan.
- Agreements with parking operators to deploy intelligent recharging networks in their facilities. Agreements with COMFRESA (ADIF and RENFE car park operator) as well as managers of shopping centers such as UNIBAIL RODAMCO and CARREFOUR.
- Agreements with Local Authorities to promote projects to solve the social and technical problem of vehicle charging station networks. Highlights include the agreement with the City Council of Pamplona and the Government of Navarra.
ACCIONA promotes the supply of electricity from renewable sources, ensuring that the use of the vehicle is 100% emission‐free throughout the process, not only when it is running but also in the energy that powers it. Thus, beyond contributing to slow down climate change, we foster the integration of renewable electricity into the grid, to promote recharging during off‐peak hours.
