ACCIONA opens a biodiesel plant in the Port of Bilbao with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tonnesDate: 03/31/2009
It is the second plant of its type owned by the company and represents an investment of 25 million euros.
The biodiesel produced in the facility accounts for 27% of the target figure for the introduction of biodiesel in Spain in 2009.
This production will avoid the emission of almost 500,000 tonnes of CO2 to the atmosphere and the import of 1.3 barrels of oil per year.
The Company strengthens its structure with new appointments.
Around 360 ACCIONA executives from eleven countries gathered in Madrid on the 29th and 30th of March for the Company’s 4th Annual Executives’ Convention. ACCIONA Trasmediterranea will offer 65,000 passenger and vehicle passages between mainland Spain and the Balearic Isles over the Easter vacation periodDate: 03/27/2009
From the 3rd to the 14th of April, ACCIONA Trasmediterranea will be offering 65,000 passages for passengers and 15,500 for vehicles between mainland Spain and the Balearic Isles, in both directions. The company will step up its services by laying on five additional ferries to cover crossings to and from the islands and to make it easier for travelers to get about over the Easter vacation period. Crossings include Palma de Mallorca and Ibiza from Barcelona and Valencia, Valencia-Mahón via Palma , and Barcelona-Mahón.
ACCIONA Trasmediterranea will be stepping up its crossings between Mahón and Barcelona during the Easter Vacation to meet increased passenger demand and make it easier for travelers to get about at this particularly busy time of the year. Night-time crossings from Barcelona to Mahón are available on the 3rd, 4th, 6th, 8th and 9th of April and daytime crossings on the 12th and 13th. The Company also offers night-time crossings from Mahón to Barcelona on the 4th, 7th and 9th of April and daytime crossings on the 5th, 11th, 12th and 13th.
New deals in Sardinia mean that ACCIONA Agua will exploit 16 new drinking water plants, 30 wastewater treatment plants and 58 pumping stations, as well as providing maintenance for Cagliari's new water services and collectors.
ACCIONA Energy has two wind farms already operating on the Italian mainland (with a total capacity of 71.4MW) and is nearing completion on a third (20.4MW) in Sicily.
ACCIONA Real Estate hands over 93 new eco-efficient homes in Vilagarcía de Arousa, saving 2,200 tonnes of CO2Date: 03/11/2009
The Las Gardenias de Vilagarcía residential complex will save 10,200MWh of energy y 160,000m3 of water during its life span.
The development, in Vilagarcía de Arousa (Pontevedra province, Spain), is made up of 93 one-, two- and three-bedroom homes.
ACCIONA starts work on its third concentrating solar power plant in Spain, representing an investment of 237 million eurosDate: 03/09/2009
Located in Majadas de Tiétar (Cáceres province, southwest Spain), this 50 megawatt-capacity facility will produce clean energy equivalent to the electricity consumption of around 30,000 homes.
The plant will enter service in the second half of 2010 and will create between 300 and 400 jobs in the construction phase.
By the end of 2010 ACCIONA plans to have five concentrating solar power plants in operation -four in Spain and one in the USA (in service since 2007)- accounting for an overall investment of around 1.25 billion euros.
Mitsubishi Corporation partners with ACCIONA by taking a 34% stake in world´s largest solar photovoltaic plantDate: 03/04/2009
In the presence of ACCIONA Chairman and CEO José Manuel Entrecanales and Mitsubishi Corporation Chairman Mikio Sasaki, both companies have signed an agreement giving Mitsubishi Corp a stake in Portugal´s Amareleja (Moura) PV solar plant, which is owned by ACCIONA.
This deal signals the will of both companies to work together in the future on renewable energy and other sustainable development projects worldwide.
With a total investment of 261 million euros, the Amareleja PV plant is a prime example of how renewable energy can contribute to local economic development.
