Job Description

ACCIONA Agua is a global leader in water infrastructure, committed to sustainability, innovation, and excellence. We specialize in the development, design, construction, operation, and management of water projects worldwide.

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estimating Manager to lead our national estimating function. This is a key leadership role overseeing the entire estimating operations across Australia, with a focus on major electro-mechanical desalination projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of cost estimates and coordinate proposals for large-scale desalination projects.
  • Provide detailed quantity take-offs and ensure accurate forecasting of project costs.
  • Manage multiple bids and act as the primary liaison between the estimating team and senior leadership.
  • Evaluate and refine estimates based on project requirements and client feedback.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships as the lead contact for proposals.
  • Ensure all bid formats and submissions comply with client and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and subcontractors to gather pricing on labor, materials, and other project costs.
  • Participate in pre- and post-bid meetings as required.
  • Maintain historical cost data and track project estimations using internal systems.
  • Support project teams in transitioning awarded tenders into successful project execution.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to junior estimators.

Planning & Quality Control

  • Develop and maintain company-wide estimating standards and best practices.
  • Ensure estimating resources, tools, and methodologies align with project needs and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the quality management team to uphold high-quality estimating processes and compliance.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical) or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in estimating for major water infrastructure projects, particularly in the desalination sector.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver accurate cost estimates for large-scale projects, including treatment plants, pipelines, and pump stations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies and cost estimation systems.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
