Civil Quality Engineer required for FIFO position on a large civil construction project in Port Hedland

Job Description

About the Opportunity:  

We are excited to announce that Acciona has been awarded a major wharf infrastructure project at Port Hedland for Pilbara Ports Authority. This marks the first stage in the development of the Lumsden Point General Cargo Facility and Logistics Hub (LCGF), a transformative multi-user facility designed to:

  • Enable the export of critical minerals.
  • Support the import of renewable energy infrastructure.
  • Facilitate the import/export of general cargo.
  • Accommodate the import of bulk liquids such as fuel and chemicals.

To help us deliver this project, we are now seeking a suitably experienced Quality Engineer onto the team to ensure that all quality and completion requirements are satisfied when transitioning finished works to the Client and Stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be required to work in Port Hedland on a FIFO basis on a two week on, one week off roster.

Key accountabilities for the position: 

  • Implement and maintain the project quality management system, ensuring all personnel possess a sound knowledge of the plans, processes and procedures.
  • Assist in the preparation of and review quality and completion documentation and records such as CMSs, ITPs, Lots, Construction Elements, NCRs, RFIs, Marked-up drawings, defects, etc.
  • Site inspection and verification of constructed works including the release of hold and witness points.
  • Lead and promote the iTWOcx lot management module to ensure understanding, correct use and application.
  • Lead and promote the TeamBinder lot management module to ensure understanding, correct use and application.
  • Implement an integrated and coordinated Defect Management System (DMS) to management timely defect rectification

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Five experience in quality engineering within the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, methodologies, and tools.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and quality improvement techniques (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a data-driven and systematic approach.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards relevant to the civil construction industry
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
