EXPERTS IN MAJOR PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANTS

We have built some of the largest photovoltaic plants on the planet

SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC ENERGY

Our commitment to sustainable development through the photovoltaic sector is carried out through the construction of more than 30 photovoltaic plants throughout the world to date, owned by either ACCIONA itself or by third parties, with over 2GWp of total capacity.

Our vocation for innovation has made us pioneers in the installation of large photovoltaic plants with capacities greater than 1 MW. In 2001, we built the largest photovoltaic plant in Spain (Tudela, Navarre) at that time (1.2 MWp). From that moment on, the company has continued to further its research into photovoltaic energy and construct iconic plants such as Puerto Libertad (405 MWp), which generates clean energy in the middle of Mexico’s Sonoran desert.

Likewise, we built and currently operate the El Romero Solar photovoltaic plant (246 MWp) in the Atacama Desert (Chile), which generates clean energy equivalent to the demand of 240,000 Chilean homes and features a photovoltaic innovation hub where we help design the future of solar technology.

The latest solar photovoltaic power plants we have completed are three plants in Egypt (186 MWp), five plants in Ukraine (100 MWp), three plants in Chile (364 MWp) and one in Spain (150 MWp)

We use sunlight to produce the energy with which we’re fighting the climate emergency, leading the transition towards a low-carbon economy.

EXPERTS IN MAJOR PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANTS

We were pioneers in 2001, when we built the largest photovoltaic plant in Spain at that time (1.2 MWp) in Tudela (Navarra). Since then, we have installed some of the largest plants on the planet.

BENEFITS OF PHOTOVOLTAIC ENERGY

Electricity generated through solar photovoltaic panels is inexhaustible and clean, contributing to sustainable development in three different areas: economic, social, and environmental.

EXPERIENCE

Solar-powered irrigation: a new partnership between farming and the Sun

ACCIONA Energía has installed the world’s biggest irrigation system to be powered by a solar plant without batteries in Montesusin (Aragon, Spain).

Solar panels on the water

We are used to seeing solar panels on the roofs of houses or on large expanses of land, but not on reservoirs.
