Project

Kwinana Energy Recovery is Australia’s first waste-to-energy facility, transforming waste into renewable energy while supporting the circular economy. Diverting up to 460,000 tonnes of waste annually from landfill, the facility will generate 38 megawatts of baseload power—enough for over 50,000 households—while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 400,000 tonnes per year, equivalent to removing 85,000 cars from Perth’s roads.

Position

Successfully lead Operations teams under your control and provide safe, efficient, profitable, compliant and innovative operations; The Shift Team Leader will lead the operations team, and when required deputise for the Operations Manager. Lead in the implementation and monitoring of systems and processes through good practice to maximise the process and ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance on a 24 hour shift system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the Operations team and deploy progression support to develop high performing teams with a culture centred on delivering outstanding performance and plant availability.
  • Routine testing of site emergency and environmental procedure
  • Development of site-based Work Instructions
  • Maximise Waste throughput and MW output. 
  • Management of contractors and control of their work areas.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to Operations personnel responsible for individual and team performance management and ensure that the team has adequate resources to carry out its functions.
  • Ensure that each site complies with, and achieves, all the contractual and performance obligations under the relevant contract/s.
  • Support all Asset management and Maintenance activities to completion within the required agreed timeframes.
  • Preparation of submissions and reports and KPI’s.
  • Work with Shift Team’s to develop strategic plans for Operations and implement strategies as required.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Previous demonstrated experience in Power stations (Highly Desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role with strong leadership
  • 5+ Thermal Energy Operations or equivalent industry experience
  • 5+ leading operational team(s)
  • Previous experience within the renewable energy or waste management sectors (Highly desirable)
  • Experience in working closely with large and diverse O&M teams
