Hydrogen: the energy vector of the future
Numerous experts have said that we are now in the middle of a transition toward a "hydrogen economy".
Due to its own individual characteristics, this element has shown itself to be one of the cleanest and most efficient energy sources.
For several years, ACCIONA has been researching clean hydrogen production, in other words, from renewable energies, thus guaranteeing there being no greenhouse gas emissions throughout the entire production cycle, including the fuel employed for its production
Sphera project: hydrogen generation using renewable energies.
The company is taking active part in the Sphera Project, being carried out as part of Spani's Ministry of Industry's CENIT (National Strategic Consortia in Technical Research) program for the purpose of positioning Spain's industry for the point in time at which a legal and economic framework will exist that will position hydrogen as one further element on the world energy map.
In collaboration with the Public University of Navarre, ACCIONA has conducted laboratory experiments on hydrogen production via electrolysis with electricity from a wind power source. And it is currently keeping up different initiatives aimed at exploring and demonstrating the technical and economic feasibility of hydrogen as an energy vector of tremendous importance in the 21st century.
