José Manuel Entrecanales Domecq
Chairman of ACCIONA since 2004.
After graduating with an Economics degree from the Complutense University in Madrid in 1985, Mr Entrecanales began his professional career in the financial sector at Merrill Lynch in London and New York. Between 1990 and 1991, he was a Director and Board Member of Sefinco LTD (New York).
In 1991 he joined ACCIONA, where he was Corporate Development Director, Finance Director and a Member of the Board until he was named Chairman in 2004.
Between 1994 and 2000 he was also a Board Director of Vodafone Spain, and between 2000 and 2007 he was Chairman of Vodafone Spain and of the Vodafone Foundation in Spain.
Mr Entrecanales was Executive Chairman of Endesa between 2007 and 2009, when ACCIONA sold its stake in the Spanish utility to Enel of Italy.
Among his many institutional activities, Mr Entrecanales is Chairman and Founder of the Pro-Cnic Foundation, the main public-private initiative for cardiovascular research in Spain, led by Dr Valentín Fuster.
In addition, Mr Entrecanales is a Patron of the Prince of Asturias Foundation and the Prince of Girona Foundation. He also belongs to the Board of Directors of the Instituto de la Empresa Familiar.
In 2009, Mr Entrecanales joined the executive committee of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). He also belongs to the Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change.
