  •   Mexico installs an ACCIONA wind turbine for the World Climate Summit in Cancun

    Mexican President Felipe Calderón inaugurated the turbine yesterday. The 1.5 MW machine incorporates ACCIONA Windpower technology.

    The wind turbine, owned by Mexican state-owned company CFE, will supply electricity to the city of Cancun

  •   Eleven Spanish companies join forces on the Azimut Project to develop a 15-MW offshore wind turbine using 100% Spanish technology

    Gamesa is the project coordinator for Azimut. Offshore Wind Energy 2020, partnering with 10 other companies, of which Alstom Wind, ACCIONA Windpower, Iberdrola Renovables and ACCIONA Energía stand out, and 22 research centres

    The project, approved by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), a unit of the Science and Innovation Ministry via the Cenit Programme, will require total investment of 25 million euros over four years.

The presentation ceremony was also attended by the ambassadors to the EU of Mexico, the United States and Canada.

  •   ACCIONA opens the first mixed biomass plant in Spain with an investment of 50m euros

    The facility will use 110,000 metric tons a year of agricultural waste products (70% herbaceous and 30% ligneous)

    The plant has created 100 stable jobs in the region of Extremadura and will generate clean electricity equivalent to the consumption of 40,000 homes.

    The Company has signed supply contracts with 120 companies and farmers in the area to ensure the supply of raw materials.

    This plant strengthens ACCIONA's position in the electricity-from-biomass sector in Spain. It now has five plants in operation totaling 65 MW and another five (82 MW) are in the administrative permits process

  •   ACCIONA to build and operate on a concession basis Canada’s Windsor Essex Parkway motorway, worth an estimated 1,100m euros

    The Windsor Essex Mobility Group consortium, in which ACCIONA has a 33.33 % share, will build and manage the biggest road investment project in the history of Ontario Province.

    Apart from an 11-kilometre motorway on a concession basis, the Windsor Essex Parkway project includes service roads, 1.2 square kilometres of green zones and a detailed environmental action programme.

    El project will generate 12,000 jobs in the region.
