The MARINA project brings together companies, technology centers and universities from twelve EU countries.
The project comes under the 7th Framework Program for R&D+i of the European Union with a European Commission contribution of €8.7 million, supplemented by own resources from all participants.
The objective is to develop deepwater structures that can exploit the energy from wind, wave, tidal and ocean current energy sources.
The 1,308 MW incorporated during the year strengthen its prominent position in the Spanish wind power sector, with a market share of 21%.
ACCIONA Energy has also been the strongest company in new wind power capacity implementation in the past financial year, according to data released today by the Spanish Wind Power Association (AEE).
