Back to press release list Date: 06/23/2008

Last year energy savings totalled approximately 6.5%.

23/06/08ACCIONA has launched its Saving, Casual Clothes, and Sustainability Plan for the second year, which calls for office temperatures to be set at between 23 and 24 degrees, one to two degrees warmer than usual, and advocates a more relaxed dress code to improve employees' comfort; the plan is effective from 23 June to 15 September. In 2007, in the headquarter offices alone the plan allowed for savings of around 51,200 kWh (approximately 6.5% of energy consumption) and avoided the emission of 19.2 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere, equal to the work of 1,600 trees, the annual electricity consumption of 20 families, or 5,000 trips to work on foot rather than by car.

The air conditioning temperature will be set at between 23 and 24 degrees. This measure will be accompanied by a relaxed dress code, and the company recommends that employees dispense with ties, suits and long sleeves during the hottest months so as to feel more comfortable, provided that work circumstances allow.

ACCIONA reasserts its commitment to sustainable development, which is a factor of cohesion among all the company's members and contributes to economic growth, ecological balance and social progress.

ACCIONA is one of Spain's leading companies, with operations in the fields of infrastructure, energy, water and services on over five continents in over thirty countries. Capital expenditure totalled 3.114 billion euro.
