Wind energy has experienced spectacular growth in recent years and ACCIONA has played a fundamental role in this growth. It started activity in this sector with the construction of the first wind farms in Spain in 1995, and today is present throughout the value chain from the design of wind turbines to the sale of energy.

Today, wind energy is the most advanced and efficient of all the renewable energies, with zero levels of contamination. Every KWh of electricity generated from wind energy as opposed to carbon avoids the emission of 0.60 Kg of CO2 (carbon dioxide), 1.33 g of SO2 (sulphur dioxide) and 1.67 g of NOx (nitrogen oxide).

ACCIONA Energy has installed 4,357 MW and has almost 700 MW under construction. It has set up, for the company or for third parties, 163 wind farms with 4,700 wind turbines, making it the world leader in the development and construction of wind installations. The wind farms are located in Spain, France, Germany, the United States, Canada, Australia, Italy, Greece and Morocco.

In addition, ACCIONA Energy has taken special care to ensure that the implementation of the wind farms is carried out with the utmost respect for the environment, through recovery of the wind farm environment and monitoring of possible impacts.
