Solar energy

ACCIONA is present in the three solar technologies (thermoelectric, photovoltaic and thermal) totalling a power (ACCIONA’s own property) of 67.3 MW, of which 95% - 64 MW - corresponds to thermoelectric solar energy. For third parties, the company has installed 62.5 MW to date, of which 35.4 are photovoltaic and 27.1 thermal.

A significant landmark on a global level in the field of renewable energies is the construction of the thermoelectric solar plant, Nevada Solar One, in the United States. With a capacity of 64 MW, it is the largest thermoelectric solar plant to be installed in the world in the last 16 years. ACCIONA owns 97.7% of the plant which came into operation in June 2007.

In Spain, ACCIONA is developing various thermoelectric solar plants – all 50 MW - and has a number of significant initiatives in the southeast of the United States totalling 1,000 MW.

Photovoltaic power installed by ACCIONA on 30 September 2007 totalled 37.8 MW, representing 15% of the photovoltaic energy connected to the grid in Spain.

The group, through ACCIONA Solar, is the developer of the concept of the solar plantations, which has enabled more than 2100 people to become owners of photovoltaic installations, with a combined investment of approximately 177 million euros. This is the greatest investment by individuals in renewable energies in Spain, channelled by a single company. The solar plantation installed by the company – a total of 13- total 31 MWp. The largest - 9.5 MWp - is located in the town of Milagro (Navarra).
